I have a 6BK7 in one of my transmitters as osc and audio amp, a 6DT8 or 12AT7 does give some audio gain but nothing to get really excited about.

Gain is in the 40s but still higher than 6C4 and units in series will give far more gain than any single triode.
The difference in the 6AB4 & 6C4 is very noticeable, I switched to 6AB4 in my 6888 Tx for additional audio gain.įor dual triodes there are always 6BK7, 6BQ7, 6BZ7 that are often overlooked. The are universal OPTs, and are nice for bread-boarding various circuits of interest. And if I decide to make a complete amplifier or a pair of mono amps, I wont be using the James output transformers. The 6AQ6 is a 150ma triode with two diodes, gain is 70, but I doubt one would know the difference vs 6AV6 or the 6DR4 that I'd never pay the price. Each parallel pair of 6AQ5 will have its own 6.3 volt heater winding, which both will be powered from a variac. I could have used one (6DR4) when I was making my phone dock amp, but I used a 12AV6, instead. The tremolo is a cathode-modulated style, modulating the first 6AV6 preamp tube, and the output is approximately 4 watts, which puts it in the same category as a Fender Champ.

1960's era, made in canada this amp uses the 12ax7 input driver tube and the 6aq5 output tube in push pull design and the 5u4 rectifier tube a copy of the schematic is included. The tube component of the amp consists of a 6X4 rectifier tube, three 6AV6 preamp tubes, and a single-ended 6AQ5 output tube. Gibson also made a GA - 5 which uses a single 6V6 output tube in single ended operation. Thank God, for that antistatic mat ! Very squishy ! vintage electrohome hft-400 stereo tube amplifier. The Gibson GA - 5T uses two 6AQ5 tubes in push - pull output. I believe I have a 6AB4 in my stash, and if I bump my work bench, a 6C4 will probably roll off of it. I must not be paying attention, because its listed at the Radio Museum, and at Frank's Electron Tube page: It will even remember your bookmarks.Never heard of a 6DR4 before either.

Use the portable version of FireFox Legacy 52.9ESR and install it on a USB stick. I searched the internet and couldnt find a basic guitar amp for my 2 most plentiful.
